If you have aging parents you probably know how important it is to make sure you times with them include going over happy memories from the past. We all have things that we are disappointed about but it's vital to our well-being that we choose to remember, cherish, and talk about the great times we've shared together with our loved-ones.
Pastoring a ministry along side my dad which reached 20-30 million people each week, will always be one of the highlights of my life. I run into people on a weekly basis who say something like, "your ministry saved my life." For some reason God chose me for a time in history where I had the honor and the privelege of impacting lives on an unbelievable scale. I will forever be grateful for those times....and the times still to come.
One of the greatest Sundays I have ever experienced was the morning that Evel Knievel joined my father and I in the Crystal Cathedral. I was scheduled to preach that morning but after listening to the powerful testimony of this man and after my father baptized him, I felt the Holy Spirit move in a way I seldom have. With tears flowing down more faces than not I realized that there was nothing I could say that would enhance the moment. So, instead of preaching a message I knew that God wanted me to invite anyone who wanted to be baptized to come forward. Suddenly, hundreds of people filed up the isle. It soon became apparent that there were far to many people for me to baptize alone so other pastors started baptizing. By the time the morning was over, thousands had come forward and received their baptism. I cannot tell you the number of people in there 80's who were baptized for the first time. It was a great moment for the church of Jesus Christ.
If you have never been baptized find a community of followers of Jesus and tell them that you want to be baptized. It is one of the few things that we are told we need to do as believers. It is Gods sign and seal of his love for us. Find a church that will baptize you or get in touch with me if you'd like me to do it.
