God Uses Sin
"You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives." Gen. 50:20
A tear rolled down my face today as I watched the Confederate Flag lowered. The state of South Carolina permanently removed it from its grounds and it is now a part of our history. It has been a symbol of hate and racism for many and that symbol has now been removed from numerous stores and establishments as well. What was a culturally accepted flag to fly has now become a scourge to society. I don't believe we would be seeing this dramatic cultural shift without the sacrifice of nine Christian martyrs.
God didn't make this happen this way. God never condones sin. He allows it because he gives us freewill and unfortunately there are always some who will choose evil. Our fearful human nature leads us to sin. God allows that because it is more important to him to have relationship based on love and trust than to have a bunch of robots without choice. True love cannot exist without having the choice of not to love.
God allows sin in the world to have a relationship with you and then he uses it to make the world a better place. He did it again. To see it so clearly always brings a tear to my eye.
